Minimally Invasive Surgery- Hip, Knee, and Shoulder
Through minimally invasive joint-replacement surgery on the hip, knee or
shoulder, Dr. Chaplan and Dr. Gerbino can operate using smaller incisions and smaller instrumentation,
causing less damage to the surrounding tissue and muscle. This can reduce post-operative pain and allow
for faster recovery time.
Arthroscopic Surgery- Knee, Ankle, Shoulder, and Hip
This state-of-the-art procedure is used to visualize, diagnose, and treat
joint problems. During the process the knee, ankle, shoulder or hip joint is operated on using a small
fiber optic camera called an arthroscope.
A full patient assessment is conducted to determine the correct treatment
for all orthopedic problems. Individualized care can then be instituted; this includes all aspects of care
from conservative to surgical. Our patients receive the entire spectrum of care, including a thorough
examination, physical therapy, technique assessment, appropriate medications as needed.
Dr. Chaplan and Dr. Gerbino are adept at treating and caring for
sports-related injuries, including complex ligament surgery of the hip, knee, ankle and shoulder. We help
patients prevent and recover from a range of injuries – from sprains and strains to broken bones and torn
ligaments – sustained while engaging in sports activities.
Monterey Joint Replacement and Sports Medicine Staff can help design
athletic training equipment and training methods for patients.
Performing Artists Medicine
Dr. Gerbino was the Director of Performing Artist Medicine at the
University of Cincinnati. He understands the complex issues that musicians and dancers face everyday as
they practice their skills. He works to help patients prevent injury and uses his expertise to optimally
treat injury once it has occurred.
